August 15, 2007: Some food for thought:

Never allow someone to be your priority
while allowing yourself to be their option.

August 14, 2007: OK, so I got back from my trip the East coast on Tuesday and kept extremely busy!

On Tuesday night, I went out with my buddy Erik for dinner and then a couple of drinks at Levande. On Wednesday night I hung out with my friend Brian over in Berkeley. We played a really cool board game (whose name is escaping me right now) while enjoying a bottle of wine. After that it was off to an awesome sushi dinner at Kirala. On Thursday my buddy John Stryker flew in from OH and on Friday we'd head up to Napa for Alex and Chau's wedding.

Alex and Penz dressed to kill :)

The wedding party stayed at the Younteville Inn (nice place but not $400 a night nice!) which was a good location. That afternoon we had the wedding rehearsal and then afterwards we had a great dinner at the Martini House. The next day was the wedding and it all went very well! Chau was a gorgeous bride and Alex the handsome groom. Together they were so cute is was almost disgusting! LOL! After the ceremony, it was off to V. Sattui Winery for a wonderful reception. Alex's brother Patrick gave a great toast and Alex's best friend Matt gave a wonderful roast! 11:00 PM came far to early as everyone was enjoying the party. I'll post some picts of the weekend as soon as I get a few from the other attendee's (I didn't break out my camera once).

On Sunday John and I headed back to the SF. We hung out at my place for bit before I took took BART out to Oakland to see Ben and Chad. Chad was out helping a friend move so Ben and I grabbed some dinner and hung out for a bit. Meanwhile, John packed up and headed off to SFO to catch his late flight home. All in all, a nice way to end up the weekend!

August 8, 2007: Hey there! Well I just got back from an awesome visit back to the East coast.

The fun all started the day before I left. I had tickets to go see Rush at the Shoreline Ampitheatre. Well my friend Ben who is a huge fan had to cancel at the last minute so I called the only other music lover I'd want to go with, my good friend Justin Green. Happily he was able to go (and works close by) so were able to meet up at the venue and and see the show together! LOL this pict was taken on his new ultra cool iPhone just as the show started. We had a great time and it was just nice to be able to hang out with my friend of who I hadn't seen in a long time!

On Thursday Aug 2, I dragged my butt out of bed at 4:30 AM and by the grace of some god, was able to get on BART and get my ass to SFO to catch my 6:30 AM flight to Boston. I don't remember much about the trip to the airport or the flight, other than I slept like a log, I arrived into Boston around 2:30 PM and was picked up by Kara and we headed back up to her and Paul's place in Dover. After taking some time to check out the house and discuss how Paul's going to redo the back lawn (which will be awesome), we headed out to do some grocery shopping and pick up the supplies for the trip. We finished that in short time and after unpacking headed into Dover where we met up with Brian Chase for some hotwings and beer! We'd hang out for a few hours before we finally headed home and crashed.

The next morning we packed up the car and headed up to Concord where we met Alex and Tab. After synching up we began our 5 hour trek to Wilmington, NY which is just a few minutes away from Lake Placid (you know, the place where the Olympics where in the 80's and they have those cool ski jumps!). The ride went smoothly, except for a huge Vanilla Coke truck that went 30 mph for about 20 miles on some windy mountain roads making it impossible to pass! LOL other than that, a few pit stops later, we arrived at the camp around 12:30 PM.

Porky was there to meet us and the fun began! Here are a few picts from the trip :)

Exploding targets are SO much more fun than the paper ones!!!

The menu for the weekend was QUITE delicious. Besides copious amounts of Gosling Black Seal dark rum and beer, on Friday night we had venison steaks on the grill. Saturday morning was Paul's infamous homefries in bacon grease covered with fried eggs and served up with more bacon casserole. Saturday night consisted of a pork shoulder roast that was smoked over peach wood for 6 hours along with a side of grilled pork ribs and some rum soaked baked beans and corn on-the-cob (oh yes, it was as delicious and decadent as it sounds). A huge THANK YOU goes out to our resident chef Paul for creating these culinary (not cardiac) delights!!! :)

Other hightlights of the trip included sitting out by the campfire until 2 AM, going out into the fields late at night and seeing about a dozen shooting stars as well as about as million other ones that lit the night sky, Penz in his boxers in the pond attacking the beaver damn that was built in the culvert under the driveway (I'm sparing the general public those pictures! :), and feeding flies to our pet spider on the porch.

All in all, we had an absolutely awesome time. There is nothing like getting together with some of your closest friends for a weekend up in the mountains.

We got back from the trip on Sunday afternoon. That evening, Alex dropped me off at my brothers house where I'd spend my last day visiting with him, Suzanne, Seth and the pups! Though only one day, we had a lot of fun. On Monday evening, Paul and Kara came down from Dover and my sister Gini and her boyfriend Mark came out from Salem to Tim's place. I treated everyone to a lobster feast! There were 22 lobsters and 7 of us; you do the math :)

22 lobsters steamed to perfection!!

So do you think I had fun on this trip? LOL you bet your sweet ass I did :) Certainly does make it tempting to move back to the East coast.... hmmmmm.... :)
